Kibitzer's Corner
May-24-23  Atterdag: Classic anti-Sicilian attack in the good old Keres style.
May-26-23  Albanius: This isn't an "Old Sicilian, General", it is an Accelerated Dragon. By move 9 it transposed to a standard Dragon, but with atypical W Nb3 combined with f3 and OOO.

perfidious: Of course that is so.

Under A00, there are doubtless hundreds of games, of mostly recent vintage, listed thus; I have assigned the correct ECO code to more than I can recall and they continue to multiply after each new event.

offramp: It looks that Kirill Shevchenko went astray straight out of theory.

Carlsen played 16. f4!
The best reply by Black is the very sharp
16...b5! The idea is that the white ♗ on d4 has to retreat:
17. fxe5 dxe5
18. Be3 and now b4!
Black has a real attack.

Instead, Black played 16...Nc6?? Carlsen had a massive sudden attack!

Jun-04-23  Albanius: The normal move order to reach the game position would be 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 g6 6 Be3 Bg7 7 f3 OO 8 Qd2 Nc6, which is B76, but then 9 Nb3 instead of the normal 9 OOO (or 9 g4 also B76, or 9 Bc4, which is B77 - B79.)
