Feb-11-25  JimmyVermeer: Is there something wrong with the game score? For 4 turns White misses the obvious Bxb4, and then hangs his own bishop. And then Black resigns from a drawn position? Perhaps forfeited on time?

perfidious: Little about this game makes sense; I just submitted a correction to 4....a5, but even the ensuing middlegame is a mess.
Feb-11-25  FM David H. Levin: If in addition to the correction 4...a5, the move-pair 15...b5 16. dxe5 is omitted and 18. exd6 changed to cxd6, the result seems more reasonable: 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 Bb4+ 4. Bd2 a5 5. g3 O-O 6. Bg2 b6 7. O-O Bb7 8. Bf4 Be7 9. Nc3 Ne4 10. Nb5 Na6 11. Qc2 f5 12. e3 d6 13. Rfd1 c6 14. Nc3 Nxc3 15. Qxc3 Qd7 16. c5 Rfd8 17. cxd6 Bxd6 18. Ne5 Qe8 19. Rac1 Rac8 20. Bg5 1-0.

But I'd be more comfortable with these changes if someone else also found them plausible enough to submit a correction slip. So, I'll leave that task to this hypothetical CG member.

The sequence 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 Bb4+ 4. Bd2 e5 must be the Bozo-Indian.

perfidious: <FM DHL>, your caution is understandable.

In I Farago vs P Wolff, 1986, which I submitted overnight, I sent the game on as it appeared in the source, then appended a correction which included the (almost certain) missing moves of Nf4 Re4, without which White's blunder Qxc5 made no sense whatever.

Feb-16-25  FM David H. Levin: I've decided to submit my attempt at a corrected score. Please stand by...

Feb-17-25  stone free or die: <MissScarlett: Huh? I'm off to bed.>

"The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads."

<A plum fruit contains potassium, which reduces the risk of high blood pressure, strokes, or heart disease. It is a heart-friendly fruit, which helps improve blood circulation and reduce inflammation. Besides, the soluble fiber in plums helps regulate cholesterol levels and supports healthy blood sugar levels.>

Hmm, your <1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 Bb4+ 4. Bd2 a5 5. g3 O-O 6. Bg2 b6 7. O-O Bb7 8. Bf4 Be7 9. Nc3 Ne4 10. Nb5 Na6 11. Qc2 f5 12. e3 d6 13. Rfd1 c6 14. Nc3 Nxc3 15. Qxc3 Qd7 16. c5 Rfd8 17. cxd6 Bxd6 18. Ne5 Qe8 19. Rac1 Rac8 20. Bg5> is hardly winning for White (20...Be7).

Feb-18-25  FM David H. Levin: Hi, <Stonehenge>. On 20...Be7, I thought 21. Bxe7 Qxe7 22. Qb3

was winning a pawn.

Now I see that Black can hold at least for the moment by 22...Nb4 23. a3 Nd5,

intending 24. Bxd5 Rxd5 25. Qxb6? Rb5.

So, while I agree that Black shouldn't resign after 20. Bg5 in my reconstruction, I don't find it inconceivable. Maybe he missed the resource at the end of the above analysis.
