An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Premature? The CG silicon monster has run for a few minutes by now, and gives 24...Kb8; 25.h4,h5; 26.Bg5,Rde8 with a slight advantage for White. What sayeth other monsters of silicon?
Jan-23-24  whiteshark: A bad day for the Two Knights Defense
Jan-23-24  Refused: Resignation also looked a bit premature to me.
White is better, that is out of the question, but is it outright resignable?

Saw an engine eval which gave it +- (+3.1 or something).

My main grievance with the black position is, I have no aticve plan whatsoever, thus no idea what to actually move.

Maybe van Foreest felt the same way and was simply not in the mood of getting steamrolled by Abdusattorov.

The longer I look at the black position the sadder and worse it looks.

Jan-23-24  BxChess: Thge cg stockfish is giving 24...Nb3 25. Qe2 Nbc5 26.g4 with an advantage +3.73 to white. van Forrest was also low on time.

Jan-24-24  goodevans: <Refused: Resignation also looked a bit premature to me...>

To me too to start with.

But White has so, so many threats. Possibly the main one is 25.b4 and when the N moves (with or without an exchange on b4) White can choose between Bb6 or even Ba7 threatening Nb6#. Stop one threat and there's half a dozen others to take its place.

Van Foreest is no mug and he knew the game was up.

Black Vampire: <BxChess> After 26.g4!, the black bishop cannot retreat to d7, cause theres a little issue if so: 27.Nd6! 😣 (ouch!) The queen is in the air... Apparently, the exchange on e6 goes in favor of White, which actually gives it the victory.
Jan-24-24  BxChess: <Black Vampire:> You are right. One can't shift the bishop to e6 because 24...Nb3 25. Qe2 Nbc5 26. g4 Be6 27. Bxe6+ Nxe6 gives:

And moving it to d7 as in leads to 24...Nb3 25. Qe2 Nbc5 26. g4 Bd7 27. Nxd6+, which gives

with a fork on f7 to come.

Black Vampire: Actually, Olga (the engine that CG provides by default) gives 28.Nxb7 as superior.

Honza Cervenka: In final position white threatens with 25.b4 axb4 26.cxb4 Nd3 27.Bb6 etc.
