Kibitzer's Corner
May-09-25  Walter Glattke: Black threatens Qxg2# or Rxg2+ white can try to catch an unguarded rook, ending with more pawns +-. Therefore 30. Qc6+ not enough. 30.Bf4+ 30.-Nxf4 31.Qe5+ Kc8 32.Qxc5+ Kd7 33.Rd1+ Ke8 34.Qe5+ Re7 35.Qh8+ Kf7 36.Qh7+ Kg8 37.Rxe8+ Qxe8 38. Qh8+ Kf7 39. QxQ?? Re1# no forcible solution found, test ended with draw.
May-09-25  Walter Glattke: Ah, 32. Qxg7 guards g2 and wins.
May-09-25  King.Arthur.Brazil: The king looked on: 30. Bf4+ Nxf4 31. Qe5+ Kc8 32. Qxg7 ... it seems the attack is strong.

An Englishman: Good Evening: "Men at Work." Funny thing about the solution--it requires White to force Black to *add* an attacker to the vulnerable g2 square.
May-09-25  mel gibson: I saw that today.
The Black King is too exposed on a clear board.

Stockfish 17 says:

30. Bf4+

(30. Bf4+ (1.Bf4+ Nxf4 2.Qe5+ Kc8 3.Qxg7 Qe4 4.Nb3 Qxc4 5.Na5 Qe4 6.h3 Rd6 7.Kh1 Nxh3 8.Qf8+ Kc7 9.Rc1 Rd5 10.Rxc5+ Rxc5 11.Qxc5+ Kd7 12.f3 Qe1+ 13.Kh2 Ng5 14.Qd4+ Ke7 ) +2.92/48 573)

score for White +2.92 depth 48.

pittpanther: I saw 30 Bf4 and the next couple of moves but missed 33 b4. Without the move b4 I think white would be in real trouble there.

Check It Out: pittpanther, I did not see b4, and I think you are right. I've changed my outcome from solved to not solved.

takebackok: Tough keep trucking Friday, 30. Bf4+ Nxf4 (only real move) 31. Qe5+ now i got stuck after Kc8 32. Qxg7 Qe4. and now 33. Qg4+ or h3 whites better not wining. Didn't consider 31...Rd6 at all. Awesome game and finish!
