White has just accepted Wei Yi's resignation. GG!

Sep-22-24  fabelhaft: So probably played one of the best games of the whole Olympiad here.

offramp: That's right, a GG but it might be very important in the global things of USA v CHN.

Sally Simpson: It is a good game. I was watching it back at move 22. when Wes played 22.Rc6 I was thinking, that Rook is not coming out there alive and was plotting ways for Black to trap it.

When Wes sacced the exchange I was on a different track with 29.Nf6+ and Bxe6. After that I gave up and just watched it unfold quitting whilst ahead. I knew the Rook was going to go for a minor piece but missed the best moment to do it.

I wrote a few days ago after looking at a Carlsen game that this exchange at the top level is so common perhaps we should not call it an exchange sac anymore. The opening of the future is 1.a4 2. Ra3 and bring the Rook along the third rank looking for a Bishop or Knight to chop with the Rook.

PawnSac: Yes interesting game, but it has been hanging for too many hours with the dancing rook, inhibiting normal commentary mode.
