May-04-25  stone free or die: The source given in the PGN is correct, but the game is cited with no information (beyond the moves) whatsoever, beyond the two players and colors.

Not even the casual tag is given, nor is a date or place.

The two preceding games in the journal are 1851 games with Anderssen, but the following game, without Anderssen is from 1853.

jnpope: I wonder if we can chart the travels of both men for all possible intersections between the two from 1851 to 1853. It may help pinpoint when and where it was played.
May-06-25  stone free or die: <Missy>'s suspicion of the game being from 1851 seems supportable from the evidence.

Not sure about <Mayerhofer>'s location during 1852+1853 outside Vienna, but <Anderssen> seems to have traveled little during those years.

<Anderssen> had far fewer published games in 1852 + 1853 than his busy 1851, but all the 1853 games seem to be in his hometown, as well as several 1852 games. He did travel to Berlin apparently, for a couple of games in 1852.
