 | | jnpope: <While in Paris, where he had made his headquarters for some time before going to Poestyen, Hungary, Frank J. Marshall spent much of his time at the Cafe de la Regence. There he encountered, in an exhibition game, a Mexican player by the name of Conde. The sitting, which resulted in a brilliant victory for the Brooklyn master, was witnessed by Harry Rosenbaum and Mr. Emery of the Manhattan Chess Club, and, among other Americans, by C. B. Schley of Colorado Springs, and Chaloner Baker, Leo Nardus, the artist, and formerly a resident of New York, is one of Marshall's partrons abroad, and with him also Marshall had frequent sittings.>
