HeMateMe: Black resigned here. The threat of doubled rooks on the g file?
Jul-06-25  FM David H. Levin: <<HeMateMe>: Black resigned here. The threat of doubled rooks on the g file?>

That looks strong. After doubling, the threat would be Rg8... followed by Bh5+... (intending ...Qxh5; Qxf8#). To thwart this, Black probably needs to prepare to bring his rook to the back rank (such as prefacing it with ...Ke7), but he'd need to avoid losing the b-pawn. Let's say that Black starts with 26...b5, and it goes 27. Rhg1 Ke7 (intending ...Rd8). White would then have the paralyzing 28. Qc8!,

preventing 28...Rd8 due to 29. Qe6#, and renewing the aforementioned threat.

So, resignation after 26. Rg3 seems appropriate.
