May-11-04  ruylopez900: http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp... An article about the writer's son in Math of the Generations.
May-11-04  poktirity: Math of the generations? ;)

paulalbert: "Match" Go to chessbase article. I hope that I can still play chess if I am 102 years of age. I don't want to get to 102 if I can't. Still being able to ski at 102 may be too ambitious a goal. Paul Albert
May-11-04  ruylopez900: <Poktirity>Yes, paulalbert got it in one. An interesting concept...also the fact that Pein's opponent (not Malcolm but his son) was actually older then the BCF.
May-12-04  TrueFiendish: 102 and still kicking; and what's more he kicked the little dude's butt! Go chess!
Aug-14-05  Averageguy: I've met Malcolm Pein on sveral occasions. His son goes to the chessclub that I used to go to.

offramp: He is the Daily Telegraph chess correspondent. You can often meet him at the Chess & Bridge Shop in Fitzrovia. He is a very friendly guy.
Aug-19-05  WMD: Infamously dubbed 'The Weasel' in Dominic Lawson's book The Inner Game.
Aug-19-05  MaxxLange: Weasels ripped my Svesh
Aug-19-05  mack: He wasn't much good on University Challenge the other day.
Aug-19-05  WMD: Still, he's making an honest(?) living out of chess, so good luck to him.
Aug-29-05  Averageguy: <offramp> When he used to pick up his son, he would play a game or two agaunst me. He would completely demolish me! Here is a game me and him played about a year ago. I was white:1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bcf Nf6 4.d3 Bc5 5.Bg5 d6 6.h3 h6 7.Bh4 g5 8.Bg3 Be6 9.Bb3 Qd7 10.c3 Bb6 11.Nbd2 0-0-0 12.0-0 Bxh3! 13.gxh3 Qxh3 14.Bh2 g4 15.Ne1 g3 16.Resigns. He is a good teacher though. However, I don't like the Daily Telegraph. Go Guardian!!(Though it doesn't have a chess column).
Sep-23-05  Averageguy: <Go Guardian!!(Though it doesn't have a chess column).> It does now!
Oct-20-05  Averageguy: I must be grateful, beacuse it is because of ths man that I found this site in the first place! Thanks!
Dec-16-05  AlexanderMorphy: <averageguy> 0-0 was a huge mistake in your game against him, up to that point you played well and were on level terms with him. the combination is easily spotted, what were his comments after the game?
Dec-17-05  Averageguy: <AlexanderMorphy> Well this was played over a year ago and I wasn't particularly good back then, maybe 1200 or so. Afterwards he told me that I should have considered queenside castling and he showed me the game Dubois vs Steinitz, 1862 to illustrate the dangers of castling into an attack.
Dec-20-05  AlexanderMorphy: yes i have analysed that game quite a few times....is his son any good?
Dec-20-05  Averageguy: He was very young, I'd estimate around 6-9, he was alright for his age from what I can remember, I didn't see very much of his games.
Dec-21-05  AlexanderMorphy: i'd like to see more of his games as he seems to be adecent player with a win over svidler...draws with zsofia polgar, speelman, taimanov!
Dec-21-05  Averageguy: I submitted a brilliant win of his over King, but it doesn't seem to be here.
Feb-03-06  Averageguy: It is now.
Nov-24-10  BobCrisp: Wow, I didn't know that London's two main chess stores had effectively merged:

http://www.chess.co.uk/twic/chessne...

What was the deal? Is <Pein> still the head honcho?

HeMateMe: <The London Chess Centre in Euston Road is to close after 18 years due to the termination of the lease.

The new main London Shop will now be in Baker Street.>

Seems a positively Sherlockian development.

Nov-24-10  twinlark: Even organisations move Holmes.
