Chessical: Played for the English League team Slough in the 2005 season, and in tournaments in the UK.

From the on-line newspaper "The Zimbabwean"

Robert learnt chess at the age of nine from a close friend, and quickly showed a rare talent at Prince Edward School in Harare. At the age of 15, he became the youngest player ever to win the Zimbabwe national championship, a title he has retained since. He won the African Junior Championship in Kenya in 1998, which entitled him to the second highest grading in chess - International Master.... He repeated this success in 1999.

....Gwaze has played top board for Zimbabwe three times in a row in the highest level team competition in the world - the Chess Olympiad. The first time was in Istanbul in 2000, where he achieved the seventh place among Board 1 players. But his greatest success was at the 2002 tournament in Bled, Slovenia when he won all nine of his games. (Another leading Zimbabwean player Takaedza Chipanga featured on Board 2).

...Gwaze is said to spend six hours a day honing his skills, studying the latest games of the world’s top players, refining his technique. Chess theory is developing all the time, especially in relation to the openings, and it is virtually a full-time job to keep up with what’s new, and to test it in competitions ranging from slow-play tournaments extending over several days, to blitz games which are all over within five minutes.

Jul-03-05  ughaibu: I guess it was the Olympiad preliminaries only(?)
Jul-03-05  ughaibu: It looks as if there'ren't preliminaries and finals these days but the entire affair is a swiss (http://olimpbase.org/2002/2002in.html).
Jul-03-05  jahhaj: In a team swiss scoring 100% just means that you are significantly stronger than your team mates. Still you have to be a reasonable player to draw with Hebden.
Apr-01-06  pfz: Seems to have become a chess trainer with the Asean Chess Academy in Singapore, which has imported about 30 NMs, FMs, IMs & GMs from several countries.

Sep-10-07  Manu2: He won the Africa Individual Chess Championships in Namibia this last weekend 10/09/2007.
Sep-10-07  chessdrummer: All of the information from "The Zimbabwean" was taken from two specific links. They basically plagiarized without providing the source.

Gwaze is certainly a fine talent.

GrahamClayton: Gwaze was due to compete in the "Max Euew Stimulans" Tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August 2008, but due to the recent political turmoil in Zimbabwe and problems with visas, he was unable to attend. Hopefully he will be able to compete in future international tournaments.

Kaspy2,
Gwaze's perfect score of 9/9 equalled the record set by Alexander Alekhine at the 1930 Hamburg Olympiad. They are the only 2 players to have recorded a 100% score while playing at least 9 games at an Olympiad.

Jul-28-09  VLADMNIK: Gwaze is reigning african individual champion but he also did not participate in this year's edition due to visa problems
Sep-05-09  whiteshark: "Finally Zimbabwean top board Robert Gwaze made history - <thanks mainly to the low place his team occupied throughout the competition> - as he turned in a perfect score of 9/9!"

  perfidious: Why?

Respect is not handed out as though it were candy-one must earn it.

Jan-09-15  Severin: Is he the reason why they started giving out board prizes based on performance rating? Because getting first board prize with a rating of 2313 is an embarrassment...
Oct-26-15  zanzibar: ChessDB has a nice series of pictures of him:
