Sep-12-09  rjsolcruz: Results of GM Torre Fund-Raising Simul MERALCO, Pasig City September 5, 2009

The living legend of RP Chess posted 17W-2D-2L in the grueling 4 hour 21-board simul composed of the ff:

Junior Players of MERALCO Chess Club
1 Paulo Bersamina
2 Jefferson Saltorio
3 JC Andan
4 Earl Cabugao
5 Rhal Sol Cruz

RP PARA Team
1 Gigi
2 Abe
3 Melchor
4 Rudy
5 Alexis

Barangay Wesley
1 tedcildor
2 spawn2
3 rusticbull
4 angelofdeath

Tanay Chess Club
1 Jerson
2 Des

MERALCO Chess Club
1 Jay
2 Darryl
3 Ronnie
4 Kim
5 Rolly

For the record, the W's were recorded by Alexis of PARA and Angel of Death of BW while the D's by Jay and Pau of MERALCO.

Each one paid an entry fee of P500, except for the 5 PARA who are the beneficiaries. Thus, a total of P8k was raised, with P2k given to GM for gas allowance which he was actually declining and the P6k shared to the PARA players which they received individually from no other than GM Torre.

As said by GM Torre in his inspirational talk, small deeds such as these not only endears all of us to God but also shows to each of our community that chess players are responsible and caring persons.

And I'd like to add that each one who played and supported this project in one way or another, you all have another invite coming to you and it is coded as MT25.34-36 which reads:

"Come and possess the kingdom which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world. I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me."

Dear GMs, these PARA players and their families are all of the above; hungry and thirsty not just for the real food but from the fellowship of abled persons like each of us. They are in the prison of their disabilities and are imprisoned to mix it up with their fellow disabled but you visited them and played chess with them.

And their unsaid gratefulness was summed up in one simple single act; Melchor giving to all of us, through me, that small plastic supot containing the 3 gold medals he won in the Asian Paralympic Games.

God bless.

Sep-16-09  rjsolcruz: GM Jayson,

Congrats for your freshly baked result for the Indoor Games. And THANK YOU for agreeing top share your God-given time and talent for the benefit of our handicapped brothers of the RP Paralympics Chess Team.

I am proposing an October 3 SaturdAY SCHED, 9 AM, at MERALCO ORTIGAS CENTER - LOPEZ Bldg.

This will be the 3rd fund-raising simul for the Para Team. The first was by GM Joey on Aug 1 and the second was by GM Eugene last Sept 5.

God bless.

Sep-16-09  spawn2: <rjsolcruz>

sir, please count me in. thanks

Sep-16-09  rusticbull: Topic: GM Jayson Gonzales simul in Meralco on October 3. POSTPONED.

The new proposed sked is October 10. Please signify your intentions to make the necessary preparations. Thanks.

Sep-17-09  Nf3em: <<rusticbull>: Topic: GM Jayson Gonzales simul in Meralco on October 3. POSTPONED. The new proposed sked is October 10. Please signify your intentions to make the necessary preparations. Thanks.> does this means that GM Bong Villamayor Simul won't take place? and GM Jason Gonzales is supposed to be the one to do it on Oct 3 (now Oct 10)? btw, count me in for the Oct 10 Simul ... vs d4 ako bro ...
Sep-24-09  rjsolcruz: Nf3em,

Yes, the GM Villamayor has been shelved out for the moment as we lost communication. Busy siguro sa Dep Ed project. Anyway, Lilet Bersamina has convinced GM Jayson to join the fund-raising simuls. And GM Jayson agreed to do the Oct 3 as originally planned, but the Pichay Cup will be played on that date kaya Oct 10 na.

So, list up now and support the RP Para Chess Team. The proceeds will be used to buy chess sets, with the approval of GM Joey, for the blind players; yung narra na may butas at di-tusok ang pieces.

God bless.

Oct-09-09  pulsar: <rjsolcruz> <We> are in luck! Some bw-mates will be arriving past 9am so this is good news indeed. Do count me in,Sir!
Oct-09-09  rjsolcruz: spawn2 and pulsar,

pwede po bang malaman kung ilan sa bw ang makikisama sa fund-raising simul bukas for the blind players of para team? para maihanda natin ang mga sets para hindi kulangin kung sakali.

for our side, there are `12 listed and 4 para will attend.

Oct-10-09  rjsolcruz: The third episode of the PARA Fund-raising simul, which featured GM JAYSON GONZALES, has 24 participants: 1 Rudy Sarmiento of PARA
2 Francis of PARA
3 Gigi of PARA
4 Alexis of PARA
5 Melchor of PARA
6 Abe of PARA
7 Rudy Canonigo of PARA
8 Epistle of BW
9 Pulsar of BW
10 Nf3em of BW
11 Sugardom of BW
12 Pinoymaster77 of BW
13 Spawn2 of BW
14 Christian Navarro of BW
15 Daniel Navarro of BW
16 Joannah of Meralco
17 Jolina of Meralco
18 Jerome of Meralco
19 Jefferson of Meralco
20 Earl of Meralco
21 Cielo of Meralco
22 Ruben of Meralco
23 Edson of Meralco
24 Rolly of Meralco

The result is 20W-3D-1L. BW's Pulsar won with the Slav while the draws are PARA's Rudy S and Alexis and Joannah Saltorio of Meralco/National U.

GM Jayson, THANK YOU PO NG MARAMING MARAMI for sharing your time and talent with us, lalo na sa mga PARA players. They really want to play year round para daw pagdating ulit ng games next year ay sharp sila. Truly, you have lived out the Parable of the Talents.

GM Jason, meron pang isang invitation for you that I got from a text and it read: "Come to the place prepared for you, for whatever you did to the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it to me."

We raised a total of P10k (4k from BW and 6k from Meralco). For transparency, the BW donors are Nf3em-1k, Sugardom-500, Pulsar-500, Pinoymaster-1k, Spawn2-500, Obientag-500.

A portion of this, P2k at P500 each, will be given to flood victims; wordfun of bw, albert of meralco, rp kiddies karen enriquez (12 under champ) and darryl samantila. P700 was spent for the late lunch of the para players. And P3k was given to GM Jason for a small token/gas allowance. Thus, that's 10k minus P5,700, leaving a balance of 4,300 for the chess sets of PARA. I am coordinating with Nanie, may alam daw siyang nag-ko-convert. The sets will be awarded in our next event in November which as announced yestrday will by a simul by GM Macky PARAGUA.

Thank you for all the participants.

God bless.

Oct-10-09  SugarDom: And God bless you Rjsolcruz,

Nf3em is flying back to Japan today.

Have a safe trip, sir and bon voyage...

Oct-11-09  Nf3em: thnx very much sir <sugardom> & nice meeting you and the rest of BW bros!!! I had a great time with your company ...

GM Jason thnx too for the great experience and sorry kasi di ko na-justify yung deviation ko from theory (i.e. dxc4 instead of 0-0) ... maganda sana ang laban had i played Na4 instead of Nxe2 ...

thnx to sir <rjsolcruz> for continously organizing such great events to help our PARA Team and other cause(s) ...

am here now at the airport waiting for my flight ...

Oct-11-09  pulsar: <rjsolcruz> May God reward you for your efforts.

<GM Jayson> Madaming salamat po!

Oct-11-09  pinoymaster77: Nf3em,

GOD bless you sir...!!!

Oct-11-09  pinoymaster77: Hello Rolly,

Kung puede i-request yung sa Nov (w/ Gm Mark) ay di sa first Saturday, kasi may Church duty and may pa-tournament in Bicutan.

Great projects and transparency. I saw
Resty at Megamall yesterday and he was wondering pano niya maipahatid kay wordfunph, I volunteered since napupuntahan ko siya...

God bless us all!

Oct-11-09  pinoymaster77: GM Jayson,

Makakaasa ho kayo sa suporta sa party list next year, aba yung iba run eh di directly kilala, eh di dun na tayo sa may ikabubuti ang chess and youth development sa ating bansa.

Kitang-kita ho na you're very active in local tournaments circuits specially in non-masters where your wards keep in getting exposures. I've also noted you shell out your own money to pay for tournament fees, for those not covered officially by FEU.

Oct-15-09  rjsolcruz: 25 participants pala lumaro sa simul ni GM Jayson last Sat: 1 Rudy Sarmiento of PARA
2 Francis of PARA
3 Gigi of PARA
4 Alexis of PARA
5 Melchor of PARA
6 Abe of PARA
7 Rudy Canonigo of PARA
