May-27-11  M.D. Wilson: A Mongolian.
May-27-11  Shams: But is he *the* "a Mongolian"?

alexmagnus: Can anybody find out Purevzhav's first name? Googling brings only "S.", and googling in Cyrillic not even that...
Oct-11-14  zanzibar: Yes, it's going to be difficult, if even the eminent local New England authority Mirijanian is stumped:

<About his Mongolian opponent, S. Purevzhav, in the 1958 student team tournament, I have no information about him in the way of a biography - not even his first name or his date of birth.

George Mirijanian>

SwitchingQuylthulg: http://hiimori.mn/ene and http://www.mongolchess.com/old/cham... both give his full name as Шаравын Пүрэвжав (Sharaviin Purevzhav, i.e. Purevzhav, son of Sharav) and date of birth as 1927.

alexmagnus: 1927?! Then how did he play in the World Team <U26> championship in 1958?

SwitchingQuylthulg: I think the designation of the 1958 World Student Team Championship as "U26" is basically a lie; other overaged players are also listed as taking part, like Rodolfo Argentino Redolfi (born 1928), Mario Bertok (born 1929) and Milko Bobotsov (born 1931).
