  perfidious: My first encounter with Klaus was in a tournament at the former Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont in 1976. Klaus was not at his best and, despite being clearly the weaker player at the time, I got a won position, then blundered the game away.

While we played the same tournaments now and again across the years, we would never meet in another long game.

The other time we met at the board was in a post-tourney money sesh at a club in St Catherine East, Montreal (not the former Specialiste d'Echecs) in 1995; I recall winning most of the games.
