HENRY ASHWELL CADMAN
(born May-07-1872, died Jun-03-1933, 61 years old) United Kingdom

[what is this?]
Henry Cadman was born in Gomersal* (near Huddersfield), Yorkshire as the 1st of 9 children of solicitor Henry Cadman (1841-1904) from Sheffield, Yorkshire and Mary Anne Ashwell (1850-1907) from Waddington, Lincolnshire, who married in 1871. He studied law, and ran for about 25 years after his father’s death the law firm Cadman, Grylls & Co. in Gomersal. He was also a commissioner for oaths (= public notary). He married in 1899 to Mary Emma Roberts (1872-1946). They had 2 children. He died in Scarborough, Yorkshire in 1933.

Chess results: 0-1 to Charles R Gurnhill in 1924 (Huddersfield vs Sheffield, board 4), 8th in Scarborough 1929 (+1 -6 =0), and probably more in The British Chess Magazine.
