<hemy>

I am preparing new <Mosva Feigin> pgns, and I am having trouble identifying an event- I hope you might be able to help me on this.

Both of these game scores come from Krustamikla. Sahs. Bridzs Nr.7 (13.02.1937):

http://periodika.lv/periodika2-view...

I was able to identify the first game from <Di Felice>, but I can see no record of an event in which <Feigin> beat <Koblents> with the white pieces any time after January 1 1937 and before February 13, 1937?

I tried to translate some of the Latvian text below:

##############################

<Bruxelles 1937> (9-14 January) Feigin finished 2nd behind O'Kelley, ahead of Paul Davos and Emil Diemers. [Di Felice "Chess Results 1936-1940" p.90 ]

<1937 Event> This game is given second in the same issue of Krusta makla. Sachs. Bridzs. as the O'Kelly v Feigin game above.

Latvian text: <Negribam izcelt mūsu meistara kķūdas vien un tādēļ zemāk pasniedzam viņa Rigas miestarībā labi nospēlētu partiju>

Google translate text: <We do not want to highlight our master's cuddle alone and therefore we present his well-played party>

My guess on what it means: <We don't just want to show our master's poor game only, and therefore we show one of his well-played games.>

hemy: <JFQ> I can extend the subject of January 1937 Brussels tournament.

Beside Feigin and O'Kelly in the double-round four players tournament participated Paul Devos and Emil Joseph Diemer.

O'Kelly vs P Devos, 1937 (I added "Brussels 4 players tournament" instead of "Belgium" as an event name, "Brussels, Belgium" as a site and "January" in the date of the game field).

An articles in Latvian periodicals about this tournament -

<hemy> Awesome, thank you so much!

Be sure to change the [White "Feigin, Movse"] field to [White "Feigin, Movsa"]

If you don't, cg.com will create a new player page for "Mosve Feigin".

To be on the safe side, I would also change O'Kelly's name field to

[White "O'Kelly de Galway, Alberic"]

I made this mistake at least 4 times already in the last month, and I had to send in 4 correction slips.

Since my mistakes, I have not been submitting any pgns unless I know for sure they have the exact names as given by cg.com.

Also, we should put in the country codes for our submissions.

<Tabanus> has created a good resource for country codes here:

Chessgames Country Codes

Game Collection: Eastern country codes for chess

Thanks to your research, I can now change my pgn from this event to match yours:

hemy: <JFQ> You are doing great work.

From the Latvian chess players, who were active before WWII, I met in person only Alexander Koblents, in his home in Riga.

For the next 2 weeks or so I will take break from contributing to CG, will be too busy.

Amazing that you met Alexander Koblents. In all the video I have seen him in, in which he is working with Tal, he always looks so kind.
