Jan-16-13  BIDMONFA: Gudmundur Kjartansson

<Surprisingly, nobody of the Grandmasters emerged a winner, but the 26-year-old IM Gudmundur Kjartansson, who finished first with 6,5/9 points, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.

GM Hedinn Steingrimsson and the 12-time-Icelandic-champion GM Hannes Stefánsson shared second place with 5,5/9 points each, but Steingrimsson took the silver on superior tie-break score>:

Penguincw: Congrats to Kjartsson for his start at the Tradewise Gibraltar (2015). He won his first game and then beat Bartel with black! Tomorrow, he has white against Bachmann.

Penguincw: Another round has passed, and Kjartansson (my apologizes for the spelling mistake in the above post) remains a perfect 3/3. He is not only the lowest rated player to still have a perfect score, but the only IM.

While he managed to beat each of his first 3 opponents (including 2 2600+ GMs), he has black against Svidler (!) tomorrow, who happens to have a lower score (2.5) than him.
