Antal is an FM and one of Hungary's top juniors.
Classical tournaments
Tibor's first solid FIDE result was in the Matra Kupa in 2007 when he was 9 years old, scoring 4.5/7. Later that year he scored 4.5/7 in the 11th Paks Open in Paks, Hungary. In 2008, he came =3rd in the 1st Ancsin Gyorgy Memorial in Hungary. He also placed =3rd in the Erkel Ferenc Memorial A, where at the age of 10, he drew with IM Laszlo Eperjesi and IM Ervin Mozes. He encountered a lean patch in 2009 apart from at the Zalakaros Open A 2009 (4.5/9) in May and 2nd with 7.5/9 at the Punkosd 2009 A in June. He regained form in the Mattolna Kupa Tolna County Championship in January 2010, placing =2nd with 5/7, in the Sanatopic-Zuzmara Chess Weekend A Over 1800 when he was =2nd with 4/5, in the 2010 Matra Kupa when he was =1st with 5.5/7 and in the Ancsin Memorial 2010 where he was again =1st with 5.5/7. There followed good results in the July Caissa IM (6/10) which included wins against Ukrainian IM Leonid Kernazhitsky and Hungarian IM Tamas Erdelyi, the August Caissa IM (4.5/9) and in the XIV Paks Open A 2010 (4.5/7). His results in 2010 boosted his rating from 2058 in January to a peak of 2257 in the November 2010 lists. He finished 2010 with a perfect score of 7/7 in the Delmagyar Open held in Szeged, Hungary.
2011 started with a modest 3/10 result in the Savaria Kupa 2011 IM tournament in Szombathely, Hungary, but then picked up tempo by scoring 3.5/6 in the Mattolna Junior Kupa held in Fadd, Hungary, 4/5 for =2nd in the 3rd Sanatopic-Zuzmara Chess Week-end A over 1700 held in Aggtelek, Hungary and winning the Halasz Geza Memorial 2011 with 6.5/7 and the Caissa IM in April. In July he scored 5.5/9 at the 33rd Oberwart Open in Austria and 5.5/9 in the 20th Cseppko Open in Hungary. He played in the Caissa GM tournaments that were held in August, September and October and although he was unplaced in all three tournaments, he accumulated 66 points from his results.
In 2015 he achieved one of his best results when he scored 6.5/9 at Tradewise Gibraltar (2015), gaining 58 rating points.
Championships
In 2007 he was runner up to Bence Korpa in the 2007 Hungarian U10 championships, and =7th in the U10 European Championships. In 2008, he won the U10 Hungarian Championship in 2008 with 6/6, and came =3rd in the European U10 Championship with 7/9. In 2009, he won the Hungarian U12 championship, scored 4.5/9 in the European U12 championships and 6/11 in the World U12 championships. In 2010, he scored 6/9 in the Hungarian U12 championship and in 2011 he came =1st in the Hungarian U14 championship and then took outright 3rd in the World U14 championship.
