Mar-05-12 | | twinlark: Wonder how he can have such a high rating without at least an FM title? Perhaps he doesn't want one? |
|
Mar-13-12 | | plimko: A very nice combination!

Feb-07-16 | | cro777: 20-year old GM Urii Eliseev (2582) has won The XII International RSSU Chess Cup "Мoscow Open-2016" with 7.5/9. http://open.moscowchess.org/stat/pi... His one loss was the game of the event - the Four Queens Game against Timofeev: Artyom Timofeev (kibitz #31) |

RIP Ura, you had great talent |

Nov-27-16 | | Caissanist: Horrible. Every parent's worst nightmare. |

Nov-27-16
 | | perfidious: I cannot imagine--nor do I wish to--what agony this young man's friends and family must feel in the aftermath of this. |
|
Nov-27-16 | | Eastfrisian: R.I.P. really too sad and too young. |
|
Nov-27-16 | | cro777: Rest in peace Grandmaster, you've gone too soon! A promissing young chess grandmaster, the winner of the 2016 Moscow Open A, was a practitioner of the extreme sport of parkour. The aim of this training discipline is to get from one point to another in a complex environment. Eliseev died after falling from the 12th storey of his apartment building in Moscow while trying from a window to reach the balcony of a neighbouring apartment. |

Nov-27-16
 | | moronovich: That is very very sad...
R.I.P |

 | | saffuna: Very sad, yes.
But if he wanted thrills like that, why not just take up rock climbing, which can be done safely? |

Nov-27-16 | | nok: Somehow I'm reminded of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so7... |
|
Nov-27-16 | | siamesedream: It's kinda suicide.
RIP. |
|
Nov-27-16 | | cro777: A popular Russian TV channel "Russia 24" reported about the tragic parkour accident (late on Saturday night Eliseev attempted to jump from a window to reach the balcony of a neighbouring apartment): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAE...
Eliseev was a chess, but also an extreme sport of parkour, enthusiast. He liked to demonstrate the strength of mind to carry on in spite of danger: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016... |
|
Nov-28-16 | | Beholder: Once again since Topalov's deplorable behavior in Elista has chess entered the mainstream media for all the wrong reasons. DailyMail is one thing, they "report", if one can call it that, on any number of bizarre happenings, but when an article shoots to the very top of Most Read on BBC News: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europ...
...it's quite another.
"Russian chess champion Yuri Yeliseyev dies in Moscow fall", and, to make matters worse, inside that article there is a link to another one titled "Does anybody still care about chess?". That's definitely not how GM Eliseev envisioned his legacy I'm sure. Let's hope at least that unfortunate accident will provide a valuable life lesson to other young people of today. You may be brilliant but if you're careless and foolhardy your brilliance might not matter one bit in the end. Sad but true. |
|
Nov-28-16 | | N0B0DY: Sounds like a nominee for a Darwin Award 2016 |
|
Nov-28-16
 | | Eggman: Tragic.
It's a little surprising that a GM would take up such extreme parkour. Surely a chess player should understand the inevitability of blundering. But obviously the sport must have been addictive. |
|
Nov-28-16
 | | MissScarlett: It's less than a year ago that Eliseev played Bukavshin in the Russian Cup Final, which was won by the latter. The decisive game: I Bukavshin vs U Eliseev, 2015 |
|
Nov-28-16
 | | OhioChessFan: I have to agree with <siamesedream>, as the rush of challenging death has to have some underlying sense of inevitably losing. |
|
Nov-28-16 | | Beholder: <MissScarlett> Creepy. |

 | | Domdaniel: "Let go here and you will not land on a blue safety mat in a puff of chalk dust. Instead you will plummet eighty feet straight down until you hit a small ledge, catapult out... ... Height and fear have returned you to your childhood." M. John Harrison, Suicide Coast |
