Sep-18-09  DrCurmudgeon: He played for peanuts.
Feb-20-22  Alan McGowan: German records show that Carl Phillipp Schultz was born 5 August 1840 at Lüchow, Germany. He married in 1864 at Hannover.

The Deutsche Schachzeitung 1914, p218 records the death of Carl Schultz on 21 June 1914 at Lugano, Switzerland.

Gaige shows him with Italian versions of his given names because he accessed the death certificate. Perhaps his name was recorded that way because of local Lugano administration/language requirements.

Why not show him as Carl Phillipp Schultz?

Feb-25-22  Chessist: Read "Philipp" instead of "Phillipp".
