Sep-09-16  ughaibu: How can someone who plays like this have no biography and only three games in the database?

cro777: P. H. Clarke in his book "100 Soviet Chess Miniatures" selected and annotated 100 games (under 25 moves long) played by relatively <unknown Soviet players>. One of them is <Ullianov>.

As GM Bryan Smith in his review pointed out, the Soviet school of chess was known for introducing the <dynamic approach to chess> and one can see that even in the games of these lesser masters, candidate masters, and first-category players. The games were originally taken from the records of the Soviet Chess Bulletin and published in the British Chess Magazine. The games are very sharp and full of complex tactics.

Ullianov's games in the Chessbase database (against Zubikov, Konstantinov and Krutiansky) are from this book.

Sep-09-16  ughaibu: Thanks for the reply. I guess that old issues of Shakhmatny Bulleten are now more widely available, so hopefully more games and information will follow.
