Jul-22-12  Karpova: This might be Eduard Hamlisch.
Jul-22-12  thomastonk: Dear <Karpova>, Gaige's Chess Personalia has two Hamlischs; Eduard (1863-1932) and Max (1866-1922), and both died in Vienna. reports that they were brothers, and that Eduard was the stronger player (master class).
Dec-10-13  Karpova: His brother Max died in summer 1922 (he still played chess in July). He was a member of the Landstrasser Chess Federation. He didn't have much time for opening studies but he was good in the middlegame. The endgame was his specialty.
