"National Master Amer Karim wins the Punjab Open Chess Championship 2018 held in Multan from March 21-25, 2018. 58 players from 18 districts of punjab, Sindh and Balochistan participated in the event. The event was organized by the Chess Association of Punjab in collaboration with District Sports Office Multan and Multan District Chess Association. Young Shahxaib from Sindh took the 2nd position while Sibt Ali from Bahawalpur secured the third position. District Sports Officer Mr. Farooq Latif was the cheif guest of the closing ceremony and distributed trophies and cash prizes worth of Rs. 65,000/- among the top ten position holders. Mr. Hanif Qureshi, President Chess Association of Punjab in his address showed his commitment to promote the game in Punjab."
