In 2011, he finished with 5/9 at the 2011 WYCC U-14 category in Brazil and was playing at the World Youth Championship (2012) in the U-14 category. Victor Plotkin is his father. He tied for 2nd-3rd in the U2100 Chicago open in 2012. His score after playing 9 out of 10 games was 4.5 at the World youth team chess Olympiad in 2014 (2) on the top board of Canada's 2nd of 3 teams playing there. He tied with GM Maxim Dlugy and ahead of another titled player Yaacov Norowitz - an IM(3, 4) at the 2016 World open's (open 10-minute-championship) section to earn $260 and tied for share of 1st-2nd with Alexander Cherniaev at the Canadian open's 2016 blitz championship in Windsor.
