Oct-22-13  Karpova: Any connection to <A. Nowotny> who died on March 7, 1871 at the age of 42?

Source: 'British Chess Magazine' Almanac, p. 1, March 1882

Oct-22-13  TheFocus: This guy lost to Steinitz, so he was not too noteworthy.
Aug-30-21  Z4all: <Karpova> - Harding, in his <Steinitz in London> book, p12, gives Friedrich ("also a doctor of law") as either the brother or father of Anton.

I would say brother was the (much) more likely given your obit info on Anton.
