More likely (though still rather unlikely) ... <Karp>.

Mar-16-12  Kangaroo: <KARP> was the archaic (old-fashioned) Russian first name, and so was the name of the father of Mr. <Baranov>. The patronymic form of this name is just <KARPOVICH>.
