Nov-24-19  cameosis: either his birthdate is incorrect, or the info in the obituary pertains to someone else:

there was a doppler who took part in the leipzig 1877 tournament in honor of anderssen, and he certainly wasn't 7 years old at the time, nor co-founder of the german chess federation (as mentioned in the obituary).

Gaige also has 4th March 1870 - 21 Sept. 1914 as the birth/death dates of Carl Doppler.

It would appear the Doppler you speak of might be Doppler .

Jun-21-21  Nosnibor: <cameosis> The Leipzig 1877 tournament was won by Louis Paulsen with 9/11, Anderssen being second equal with Zukertort with 8.5/11. Doppler did not play in this event unless there was some subsidiary tournament.

I believe <cameosis> refers to these games, played by "a" Doppler- not the one on this player page:

Though there is no Doppler or Riemann, for that matter, in the master section of Leipzig 1877 (July 16 - 23) as <Nosnibor> already said:

==================

As usual, no source tag was provided for either of the following games- a shameful practice, in my opinion, that makes everybody's job more difficult:
