Born in 1971 and based in North London, Gavriel is the founder and head of the web-based email chessplaying site www.chessworld.net (also known as www.letsplaychess.com) and, before that, he ran the Barnet Chess Club website, one of the first chess club websites back in the 1990s.

Gavriel was first exposed to chess at the age of 5, by watching his father playing against his older brother.

Gavriel is a frequent Chessgames contributor as User: kingscrusher, and can be found at the Internet Chess Club (ICC) under the same handle. His Youtube page (http://www.youtube.com/kingscrusher) features many instructional chess videos. He became a Candidate Master in 2010.

  kingscrusher: BTW, Is anyone going to the Gibraltar tournament in February 2010 ?! It is a very good tournament with many grandmasters, but they do have a morning tournament in each of the two weeks for under 2250 players.
