Miso Cebalo was born in Zagreb, Yugoslavia (Croatia).
He was awarded the IM title in 1978 and the GM title in 1985. He won the 2009 World Senior Chess Championship. Cebalo was also a FIDE Senior Trainer.

Also speaks many languages fluently and was chosen as editor of the bulletin for last year's Olympiad in Torino.
