Feb-25-20  wordfunph: currently 4/6 in Aeroflot, this 14-year-old IM will no doubt be a GM.
Feb-26-20  norami: Now he’s 6/8, tied with Mamedov for the lead with one round to go. Has a 14 year old ever won a tournament this strong before?
Feb-26-20  paavoh: Karjakin won Corus B in 2005, but I think he had just turned 15. Other suggestions?
Feb-27-20  EdwinKorir: Another beast is born
Feb-27-20  fisayo123: <norami> Keymer did famously win the Grenke Open in 2018 https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...

Keymer did face two very strong GM's in Rapport and Korobov but he also faced a lot of weaker players https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-t...

but of course this from Aydin is also an extraordinary achievement. He faced nothing but 2600's in all 9 rounds.

Feb-27-20  norami: Looks like he wins on tiebreaks with a performance rating about 2800. Back when I was 14 years old my chess playing buddies and I would have been impressed if one of us did that!
Feb-27-20  dwavechess: Is this the best accomplishment ever for someone of his age?

JointheArmy: This kid came out of no where.

Had no idea Azerbaijan had a prodigy that could rival Pragg, Nihil and Gukesh.

Feb-27-20  wordfunph: Aydin with black, held monster GM Mamedov to a draw.
Feb-28-20  et1: Congratulations for winnning Aeroflot 2020 !
Feb-28-20  torrefan: Fresh young players still with the knack for winning to replace the old ones who had evolved into boring, drawing machines
Feb-28-20  wordfunph: Congrats Aydin!

14-year-old IM winning Aeroflot! hmmmm..
