Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-03-21  Nosnibor: Geoffrey Douglas Carlin was born in Leicester 9th April 1932 and passed away 29th May 2009 and was therefore 77 years old at the time of his death. He became blind at a very early age and showed an aptitude for chess by playing for his county team has a teenager. He operated as a piano tuner which also influenced his son Clive who also took up chess. He won the British Blind Players Championship twice in 1969 and also 1971. I knew Geoff for many years and played him on several occasions between from 1960 onwards.

MissScarlett: You ought to have mentioned his career in stand-up.
Feb-03-21  Nosnibor: I assume you are referring to otbchess with sighted players and not comedy! I know that he won Braunstone Chess club Championship at least twice. My personal record in play against him between 1960 and 1990 is 8 wins,2 draws and a single loss in 1986.
Feb-08-21  Nosnibor: His father also played chess for Braunstone Club and also the Leicestershire County team.
