GrahamClayton: Buchanan moved to Colorado from Ohio in 1977, and became one of the most influential figures in Colorado chess. Over 40 years, Buchanan held every leadership position in the Colorado State Chess Association, including a stint as Vice-President and two separate terms as President. Buchanan also edited the CSCA Bulletin between 1994 and 2004, and was one of the original inductees into the CSCA Hall of Fame in 2015.
