Strenzwilk was a longtime Maryland resident and frequent contributor to the Maryland Chess Newsletter. He won the state championship in 1983. He often played in the Bermuda Open, tying for first with three GMs and two IMs in the first event in 1983. In his last event, Strenzwilk played third board on a team that tied for first at the US Amateur Team Championship East.
