Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-28-06  Benzol: This lot might take some sorting out. Some of these games might have been played by the players listed in http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... but consider that there are two Victor Vasilievs.

Victor Andreevich born 1916 and plain Victor born December 1921.

Jan-01-07  nescio: <Benzol: ...but consider that there are two Victor Vasilievs.

Victor Andreevich born 1916 and plain Victor born December 1921.>

Not to mention that Victor is often spelled Viktor.

I'll try to help. This is what I have established so far:

Vasiliev vs Kocheguro, 1959 Vladislav Vasiliev according to NICBase.

Vasiliev vs Bronstein, 1947 A.K. Vasiliev according to NICBase.

V Mikenas vs Vasiliev, 1947
A.Vasiliev according to Chessbase

The games against Kotov, Ragozin, Nezhmetdinov, Novotelnov, Geller and Petrosian were all played by Victor Andreevich according to NICBase, as was the game V Vasiliev vs Ragozin, 1936 which is here attributed to Vladislav.

Jan-01-07  Benzol: <nescio> That's good work mate. Have you submitted correction reports to chessgames?
Jan-02-07  nescio: <Benzol: Have you submitted correction reports to chessgames?>

Hm, no. not yet. It took me a few minutes to realize what you meant by correction report. I always assumed that the "suggest your correction" feature wouldn't be accessible for non-premium members.

By the way, is it customary at chessgames to address an unknown person as "mate"? :)

Jan-02-07  Benzol: <nescio> To the best of my knowledge the "suggest your correction" feature can be used by any kibitzer.

I suppose the term "mate" isn't customary at chessgames but it is a colloquial term used by New Zealanders and Australians for a friend and I don't exactly consider you unknown even if we haven't met face to face.

:)

Jan-02-07  nescio: <Benzol: the "suggest your correction" feature can be used by any kibitzer.>

So I will soon try it with these games.

<I don't exactly consider you unknown even if we haven't met face to face.>

Sure, I know you were being good-natured, but I consider that way of thinking a serious objection to chessgames.com, otherwise a great site. While I like to discuss chess once in a while, I don't want to be part of an old boys' network...
