Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-15-11  sneaky pete: Dr. J.H. Pannekoek, born May 5, 1905 in Batavia (Jakarta), died January 15, 1996. He played this small tournament (against 3 grest masters, the game against Euwe is given twice) and several others under the nom de plume <Oliphant> (Elephant) or <Jumbo> according to other sources, so his parents wouldn't know he was playing chess instead of studying medicine. Neither nickname is mentioned in Chess Pseudonyms by Anders Thulin, you heard it here first.
