Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-23-10  wordfunph: "I first came in contact with the USCF in 1964 when, as a naïve 15-year-olds, my next-door neighbor and I wrote a letter to Fred Reinfeld, care of the Marshall Chess Club, challenging him to a game of postal chess! Someone at the club kindly responded informing us that Fred had passed away several years earlier."

Oct-23-10  Petrosianic: Actually, he died that same year.
Jun-14-13  RookFile: Tonight I remembered a humorous 1980's incident with Kelleher. He was playing a 2200 master in one of those 40 in 2.5 hour tournaments. His opponent was a real clock burner, so Kelleher entered a speed tournament in the adjacent room while the game was in progress, and won the speed tournament, taking about an hour. As he came back to the board, his opponent was just making his move. Kelleher went on to win the game easily.
Jun-14-13  Shams: Kelleher slightly misremembers; Reinfeld died May 1964. Fred Reinfeld
Jan-07-19  RookFile: He may have meant to say several months earlier, since he was born in September.
Jan-07-19  Granny O Doul: I submit for posterity the following postal game for anyone who wishes to challenge me while I'm dead--1. e4 (sorry, I only play White. I'll play Black only once Maroczy starts taking Black.) ...any, 2. Bc4 any, 3. Qh5 any, 4. Qxf7 mate.

If any of my moves are impossible/illegal, well, I guess you win. Congratulations! You'll go far.
