Schussler - meaning a skier? or was schussing named after someone or something else?

Jun-24-08  Nikita Smirnov: He is the new owner of my school.
Aug-02-09  myschkin: . . .

@ Calli - IMO derivated from <Schüssler> a occupational name for a maker of dishes and bowls, for example a turner.

<der Schussel> ~ verb: <(ver)schusseln> has the meaning of losing things bec of not remembering where they were left before ~ scatterbrain (?*)

e.g. "Wo hab ich (nun schon wieder) meine Sch(l)üssel verschusselt?" "Du Schussel!"

* in German it has not necessarily a rude tone

Aug-02-09  bebop1: Schüssler writes the chess column for Svenska Dagbladet, one of Swedens two major newspapers. The column is there about 2-3 times a week, and has a great mix of chess problems, reports about current chess events, anecdotes about chess players and games etc. A very good writer if you ask me.
Aug-02-09  myschkin: Tack så mycket <bebop1> ;)

One of Stockholm's two major morning papers, right?

Aug-03-09  bebop1: <valiant> Yes you're right, I didn't count the tabloids (Aftonbladet and Expressen) and Göteborgsposten, which isn't read in all of Sweden. That leaves Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet, both Stockholm morning papers and read all over Sweden.
Jun-24-12  wordfunph: happy birthday, Swede GM Schussler!
