INGVAR ASMUNDSSON
(born Jul-10-1934, died Feb-21-2007, 72 years old) Iceland

FIDE master Ingvar Ásmundsson played for Iceland in three Olympiads, in 1968, 1974 and 1978. He was Icelandic Champion in 1979. He placed first at the World Open in Philadelphia in 1978. Ásmundsson was an honorary member of the American Chess Federation since 1972. He was one of the first players in Iceland to embrace the new internet technology for chess, and is said to have played over 40,000 games online.

He was also one of the driving forces behind the team which managed to have Robert James Fischer liberated from Japan.

he died at age 73, assuming he played chess for 40 years then he averaged 1,000 games a year of 2.74 games per day.
