GrahamClayton: Don Keast gave a simul at my high school way back in 1979. We had entered a team in the local high school competition, and Don would travel to all of the schools involved in Sydney and give an exhibition. All 5 members of my school team took part, plus we roped in a few other players, even if they knew the moves and not much else!

Around this time Don also contributed an opening traps column to the 'Chess in Australia' magazine.

GrahamClayton: Keast is currently working as a librarian for the Dubbo Hospital in central NSW, which gives him the opportunity to play in the Dubbo Open year and take on the city slickers who travel from Canberra and Sydney to take part.
