<" FEXERJ announces the death of MF Peter Toth, which occurred this morning, at the age of 81. Toth was an athlete at the Guanabara Chess Club – CXG. He was Brazilian runner-up and participated in three chess Olympiads promoted by FIDE (1970, 1972 and 1974).

He was also Absolute State Champion in RJ in 1979, as well as three times Carioca Champion (1969, 1977 and 1986). As a leader he held the position of Vice-President of CBX – Brazilian Chess Confederation.

Toth belonged to a traditional family of strong chess players. He was the son of Vince Toth, a chess master of Hungarian origin and father of MI (International Master) Christian Endre Rego Toth. FEXERJ sends condolences to family and friends.">
