Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-06-12  wordfunph: GM Margeir Petursson on Askell Karason, from his book King's Indian Defence Averbakh Variation..

"I had been toying with the King's Indian as black against untitled players. Usually this ploy was successful, but against the Icelandic national team captain, <Askell Karason>, I had great difficulties in the opening. He played the Averbakh and I realized over the board that the variation was so flexible that the standard King's Indian plans could not be applied."

Nov-10-14  ljfyffe: I988 -1990, Karason won the Icelandic correspondence championship.
