Telemus: I played with him in a final round of a rapid in the mid-1990s. The first prize was already decided, but we thought the money for the second and third prize was still available. Unfortunately there was a condition we had overlooked until the td's announcement of this final round: tie-break was lower rating!

And next to us were some guys rated 400+ elos lower and only they played for the money. Pairing was done manually(!) and the td was soooo happy that he managed to give the money to some amateurs instead of the usual prize hunters (he meant Meijers and Adamski).

RIP.
