<wordfumph>,
Does Acosta hold the record for the most national championships won before becoming a GM? Has anyone won 15 or more national championships without becoming a GM?

May-22-18  ChessHigherCat: He did it just to make me revise my profile page!

<GrahamClayton> Over half of the countries in the world don't have a GM (https://ratings.fide.com/topfed.phtml) , so there are probably lots of cases where the same expat or local pundit wins the national tournament every year.
