Winner of the Tenth Banyoles Chess Festival in 2007, the 2nd Agialeia Open in Greece in 2009, the Barbera International Open (2011), the Sant Marti International Open (2011), the 5th and 8th Sabadell International Opens in 2012 and 2015, the Olot International Open in 2012 and again in 2013 (in Catalonia) and the David Garcia Ilundain Memorial in 2013.

He scored 7/9 but had the best Tie Break scores (other players with 7/9: GM Viktor Moskalenko, IM Renier Gonzalez, GM Mihail Marin and GM Jose Garcia Gonzalez).

Nigel Short had to withdraw after 5 rounds (4.5 points) due to a back problem.
