Dec-19-12  Helloween: With her sister...
http://ppmhungary.files.wordpress.c...
Feb-21-13  waustad: It looks like the "Blue Lightning" team SF 1891 Friedberg in the Frauenbundesliga has been picked in part to create some very good publicity photos. They are actually doing well in the league too. Here is the roster: http://www.schachbund.de/SchachBL/b... I didn't know who the one with all of the curly blond hair (Ticia Gara) was until today.
Feb-21-13  waustad: Here is one of many examples of what I mean: http://www.chessbase.de/2012/frauen...
Feb-21-13  Shams: <waustad> What's the collective noun for a team of cute female chessplayers?
Mar-02-13  waustad: Since this photo is from WIKI commons, I think that she deserves a picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:G...
Mar-02-13  waustad: I see that that pic has been linked to before here, but with other URLs. In any case she is stunning.

  perfidious: <waustad> Pas mal.
Mar-02-13  waustad: There are other reasons that she was recruited for SF 1891 Friedberg. I've been looking at her games from the Hungarian league for the last two years and she has had tremendous results.
Mar-17-13  waustad: Besides, she's left handed - what's not to like.
Apr-18-13  waustad: Here is another pic: http://cikkiro.terasz.hu/cikk/kepek...
Oct-11-13  waustad: Here is her new profile pic google+: https://plus.google.com/10506265647...
Oct-11-13  waustad: Here is an interview with Ms. Gara in English and Spanish (her part starts around the 8 minute mark): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqTj...
Nov-21-13  waustad: Her recent performance in the ETCC was not stellar, going -2 with an elo change of -23.4. It's hard to keep up when one has an outside world full time job. I hope she keeps playing league games and such because she plays interesting chess as well as being a lovely woman. She's had recent success in Hungarian leagues and is on the list for SF 1891 Friedberg in the German FBL so I hope it continues.
May-10-14  waustad: Chessbase has an articke with lots of pictures of Ticia Gara's match in Indonesia with Aurelia Medina. Looking at her ratings card, it appears that she went +3 -3 =0. With no games in the German leagues this year, she seems to go for either playing in Hungary or major trips, having chess playing vacations from her usual job. http://de.chessbase.com/post/tiviak...
May-14-14  waustad: So much for that observation. She's playing now in France in a women's team tournament. She and her sister both seem to be playing for Annemasse. Games can be found here: https://arena.chessdom.com/#/stream... for now. The results listing is silly because of multiple spellings and such.
May-23-14  waustad: Now both Gara sisters are playing at the 33rd Zalakaros festival. Perhaps this flurry of activity is to prepare for the olympiad. http://www.chessdom.com/33rd-zalaka...

Jun-17-15  waustad: She won again today, playing for Hungary in the Mitropa Cup. She has gone 3/3 and Hungary is in sole lead after 4 rounds. http://chess-results.com/tnr172498....
Jun-21-15  waustad: Her rampage continues. She's now 6/6, playing 4 blacks. All of her opponents have been lower rated, but beating them with black is still impressive.
Jan-18-16  waustad: She's now playing in Australia in the Australian Women's Championship. It is also a WIM norm tournament, so her WGM title was probably desirable to the organizers. Another European player at the tournament is Deimante Daulyte, who seems to be following the Alina L'Ami path of playing and taking pictures for chessbase. I don't know who they'll call the champion of a foreign player wins.
Jan-18-16  sonia91: It's not a championship, the correct name is Australian Women's Masters. Also the recently ended Australian and New Zealand championships had foreign players, but the highest ranked Australian (New Zealander in the case of the New Zealand Open) player took the title of national champion
Jan-18-16  waustad: <sonia91> Right you are. The chessbase article repeatedly mentioned the earlier tournament, the Australian Championship, and I must have confused them. In any case it is nice to see Ms Gara combining playing and having a full time non-chess job. Several of my favorite female players who are 30ish have cut back a lot on their play of late.
Jun-02-16  waustad: Oh. Ticia Gara has 4 IM norms. She just needs to get her rating over 2400. It is hard to target such a thing when working a full time job.
