Jun-20-05  Runemaster: Australian master, many times Western Australian champion. Needless to say, the NN-like percentage in the database does not show him at his best.
Mar-14-07  RonB52734: I wonder if he is the same as Haydn J Barber, who also appears to be from Australia?
Mar-14-07  Gejewe: <RonB52734>
A good guess, I played him in this 2001 ECC event. It was Haydn J Barber playing there. Very friendly person !
Mar-14-07  RonB52734: I would guess that Barber Haydn is also the same

Jonathan Sarfati: From Ian Rogers on http://www.chesschat.org/showthread...:

RIP Haydn Barber
Haydn Barber died yesterday, following a major heart attack and a stroke. One of the great characters in Australian chess, Haydn was one of the driving forces in WA chess for many years. He represented Australia at the 1988 Thessaloniki Chess Olympiad and was captain of the Women's Olympiad team in the early 1980s. Haydn was an outstanding photographer and valued his cameras dearly - risking having the entire Australian team machine-gunned rather than hand his camera over to the police in Sicily, on the way to the 1980 Malta Olympiad. A compromise was reached and Haydn gave up his film and the team survived. He will be sadly missed.
