He is a GM. Champion of Uzbekistan in 2005 and 2007 (=Vladimir Egin and Timur Gareev). He qualified for the World Cup (2011) through the Zonal 3.4 championship, winning the first round against Belarussian GM and number 1 Sergei Zhigalko, but lost in the second round rapid-game tie breaker to French GM Etienne Bacrot. He again qualified for the World Cup (2013) by winning Zonal 3.4, and defeated Russian GM Evgeny Romanov in the first round, thereby making his way to the 2nd round where he will meet Israeli GM Boris Gelfand.
