cu8sfan: <chessgames.com> Speaking of which please check out my question from Aug 2nd here: Larry Melvyn Evans
Aug-16-04  Kaspy2: The Paehtz dynasty is the current mainstay of german chess. There is a hotspot in the City of Erfurt (Thomas Luther lives there too). He is like deFirmian or father Polgar in Germany, I'd like to say. Few native German players around these days. at least the world champion lives in Germany...

GrahamClayton: Here is a position where Paehtz plays a problem-like move:

Paehtz-Albena, Bulgaria, 1989

Paehtz played the brilliant 1. ♕a2!!, winning at least a rook, while 1...♖a2 2. ♗xc4+ & 3. ♗xa2 wins both rooks.

Sep-13-12  Llawdogg: Graham, that is in fact problem # 0025150 on the chess dot com tactics trainer.

SteinitzLives: All I can say is that with a name that sounds like PaehtzSr, he had to play real well, or die!

perfidious: This player is, of course, best known for being on the short end of the following brilliancy: Tal vs T Paehtz Sr, 1974.

Penguincw: I first heard of this guy, after he was on the losing end of a POTD last year.

Topalov vs T Paehtz Sr, 2017

Feb-08-19  Granny O Doul: Of course, it hasn't been as much fun to republish that Tal game above ever since "Paehtz" with the 'e' became the standard spelling.
Aug-12-20  jith1207: Even Elisabeth Paehtz seems to approve of the spelling
