May-30-20  tessathedog: ChessHigher Cat, I have only just caught up with your kind remarks. We seem to form a mutual admiration society. From memory we united in the face of arrogance from another. It is wonderful that a dog and a cat can think so warmly of each other, even if the other is "unmentionable".

thegoodanarchist: Somebody made a Daniel Freeman game into today's GOTD. Thank you.

And at the same time, you made me cry.

Daniel was probably the most patient and tolerant human being I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

In the last 3 years I've only ever cried 3 times. When my dad died in 2017, when Daniel died in 2018, and again today when I was reminded of Daniel's death.

What a great human being he was! God rest his soul.

thegoodanarchist: Would have been 53 this year. Passed too young, by far...

thegoodanarchist: I never told Daniel how much I appreciated him.

Big regret.

Folks, let the people you care for know how much you appreciate them! Don't let the opportunity pass you by.

  harrylime: Just seen this ...

My contact with Daniel was pretty minimal but when we did exchange words he was ALWAYS, ALWAYS, so POLITE and so KIND. Soooooo just there to HELP....or in my case more often than not just SMOOTH things over with certain other posters.

And he did this ....He ALWAYS smooothed things over....He ALWAYS found a way ..

This great site is his

keypusher: Daniel had a superpower -- well, several superpowers, but this one impressed me the most -- he was incapable of taking disagreement personally. That's so rare! I really struggle to do it, and fail regularly. I used to argue with him (as <sneaky>) having no idea I was arguing with the guy who owned the website.

OhioChessFan: Well, <tga>, I submitted the pun a while back, really hoping it'd be used today. A week ago, I almost emailed Annie to specifically request it, but I decided to trust her and not interfere in the pun process. Then forgot about it. My trust was rewarded.

Today, I opened chessgames, and there it was. And I had tears in my eyes. I am inspired now to change my kibitzing habits, maybe be a little more like Daniel. We'll see how it goes.

This site is a beautiful part of my life.

MissScarlett: At first blush, I read Bitcoin as Britain....

<How will Britain be used in the future?

Of course nobody really knows, but if I had to venture to guess, it would go something like this:

In the future, Britain will be used more or less the same way it’s being used today. Which is to say, for speculative get-rich-quick schemes, gambling, money laundering, extortion, illegal mail trafficking.>
