GrahamClayton: The British Chess Magazine mentioned in 1914 that the "Lichtenfelser Tageblatt" had started a chess column authored by a Herr Kunstmann. Is this the same player?
Oct-06-13  Karpova: Possibly Georg Kunstmann from Bavaria who died in mid-May 1926 after short affliction (<nach kurzem Leiden>). He was <Rentamtmann> (<Rentamt> is bursary). His best result was Hamburg 1921:

1-2. Hilse
1-2. Wegemund
3. Kunstmann (0.5 points less)
4. Schönmann
5. Blümich
6. Richter
7. Gebhard
8. Dr. Seitz

From page 221 of the July 1926 'Neue Wiener Schachzeitung'

Feb-03-18  mifralu: Kunstmann won against Harry Nelson Pillsbury in Augsburg GER, where Pillsbury played a Blindfold simul (16 boards), 19 August 1900.

Julius Kunstmann (1878-1902)

was a member of 'Schachclub Augsburg'
(Bavaria, Germany).

Kunstmann ~ Künstler (engl. artist)

Good game @mifralu

Jul-03-21  Alan McGowan: A German death record shows that Julius was born 8 December 1878. (I have not found a birth record.)

A family tree for George Kunstmann in shows the birth of a sibling in 1878, but it simply shows 'Kunstmann' - no given name(s) and no place of birth.

A history of chess in Bavaria mentions Julius only once, in connection with his win against Pillsbury, which is given here. It does not refer to his death in 1902, and neither does it refer to Julius and Georg being brothers, though that is a strong possibility.

Georg's birth is recorded as 5 July 1874 in Enzendorf, Bavaria.
