FSR: Norman was an ordinary master doing battle with the big boys, which must have been cool, if sometimes dispiriting. They usually handed his hat to him, but not always. He beat Colle in G Norman vs Colle, 1927, Sir George Thomas in G Norman vs G A Thomas, 1927, and Yates in G Norman vs Yates, 1922, G Norman vs Yates, 1926, and G Norman vs Yates, 1928. He drew in G Norman vs Euwe, 1935, G Norman vs Lilienthal, 1934, Tartakower vs G Norman, 1927, Reti vs G Norman, 1927, and G Norman vs Janowski, 1925.
